Eddie Howe addresses Anthony Gordon’s injury ahead of Newcastle visiting Everton
Newcastle United coach Eddie Howe has admitted that he keeping his ‘fingers crossed’ that Anthony Gordon can recover from an injury to meet Everton. The Magpies will travel to the Toffees this Thursday. But the 22-year-old suffered a hip issue against Manchester United.
Gordon scored the only goal of the game as the Toon beat the Red Devils 1-0 on Saturday. It was the Everton academy product’s sixth goal in the Premier League so far this season. The winger has also laid on five assists through 13 top-flight appearances under Howe this term.

Howe is holding out hope that Gordon can overcome his hip injury and return to Everton in midweek. Only Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson (7) have outscored the Liverpudlian so far this term for the Toon. Just Kieran Trippier (7) also has more assists than their injury-hit star.
“I don’t know at this moment,” Newcastle boss Howe has told The Shields Gazette. “I hope so. He just said he was feeling a tightness in his hip. Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious.”

Sean Dyche tells his Everton players how they can reach the ‘next level’
Everton manager Dyche has now told his Toffees players how they can reach the ‘next level’ at Goodison Park. The Kettering-born coach believes it is important for the Blues to build on the promise they have shown at home. He likes their efforts but they have not led to points.
“The performances have been very strong there,” Dyche told Everton’s official website. “But seeing the games through and taking the chances, that is the next level of home performance because a lot of the home performances have been very good.
“I thought the home performance against Manchester United was very good. I know it doesn’t look like it with the 3-0. But that was a strong performance against a good outfit. So, we have got to secure that mentality and keep delivering good performances.”
Everton have played seven times both at Goodison Park and also on the road in the Premier League this season. But Dyche has only overseen one win and one draw on home soil, along with just five goals scored to nine conceded. Only Burnley (3) have fewer points (4) at home.
Yet the Toffees have claimed 13 points away from Goodison Park after four wins and a draw. They are among the Premier League’s best teams when playing on the road in terms of their points, as well. So, Dyche wants them to turn their strong displays into points at home, too.

The US private investment company, 777 Partners, have hit a major ‘problem’ in their bid for a takeover of Everton. That is according to Paul Brown, who reports that the Premier League is now unlikely to let the Miami-based group pass its fit and proper persons ownership test.
777 Partners have submitted the needed paperwork in their application to become the new owners of Everton. But the Premier League remains unsure about giving them the go-ahead to buy the shares controlled by Farhad Moshiri amid ongoing doubts surrounding the group.
