777 Partners’ proposed takeover of Everton looks to be in danger of collapsing.
According to The New York Times, 777 Partners’ attempts to purchase Everton have stalled, as the holding company have failed to provide audited financial statements to the Financial Conduct Authority.
The firm will now need to proved the requested financial details, or a good reason as to why that isn’t currently possible, or their mooted takeover of the Toffees could fall apart at this late stage.
With the takeover now seemingly hanging by a thread, plenty of figures at Goodison Park will now be anxiously awaiting an update on this situation.
Football club takeovers are always complex, drawn-out processes. Stumbling blocks are inevitable, so 777 Partners’ move to take charge at Everton is not dead in the water yet. However, fans of club could not be blamed if they find that this latest update dents their tentative faith in the potential new owners.

All at Everton in need of resolution
As for Sean Dyche and the players, they cannot afford to be distracted by goings on higher up the chain at the club. Everton are set to travel to Anfield on Saturday to contest a Merseyside derby against bitter local rivals Liverpool. Their full focus needs to be fixed on that fixture.
In the meantime, should 777 Partners fall out of the race to take over at Everton, then that would be a disaster for current owner Farhad Moshiri.
Moshiri previously gave his public backing to the firm, saying “they are highly professional and deliver exactly when they say they will, and I look forward to them achieving all their regulatory approvals and proceeding to completion,” as quoted by Sky Sports.
Not only would Moshiri be embarrassed if the takeover process were to collapse now, but, of course, his own desire to sell the club will have been thwarted.
At this time, with the team having struggled on the pitch in recent seasons, and with a new stadium on the way, stability is needed at the club. Everton will be hoping that the takeover bid can get back on track as soon as possible.
