Everton takeover: When 777 Partners expect Premier League decision

Everton, in their desperation to escape the financial void that their owner has plunged them into, were seemingly willing to accept any bidders.

And yet, Farhad Moshiri still had the gall to suggest, having agreed a deal to offload his shares to 777 Partners, ‘I firmly believe they are the best partners to take our great Club forward.’ His performance as owner over the last seven years has severely dented any confidence in his judgment fans might have once had.

Such desperation to depart Merseyside was obvious, and following the £430m losses the Toffees have overseen over the last four years, that should come as no surprise.

Fortunately for the Iranian, it seems he is set to get his wish.

The latest regarding the proposed takeover comes courtesy of BBC journalist Shamoon Hafez, who took to Twitter to issue the following update: ‘777 Partners have submitted all the documents requested by the Premier League and Financial Conduct Authority. Still hopeful of completing the takeover of Everton by the end of the year. PL will have final say on approval once Owners’ and Directors’ Test is completed. #EFC’

It seems that, despite fresh doubt being thrown over proceedings after their business failed to announce significant losses, the Miami-based firm are still set to steam ahead with their plans.

How are the other 777 Partners’ football teams performing?

Were they to be acquired by 777 Partners, there is no doubt that Everton, as a Premier League club with a rich history, would be the jewel of their crown.

However, that’s not to suggest that their other ventures are not worthwhile, with some large clubs performing admirably.

Their biggest thus far is likely Sevilla, and although the Spaniards have a rich history in Europe, league performances have been lacking. They currently sit 15th in La Liga.

Meanwhile, Hertha Berlin are truly struggling, having finished rock bottom of the Bundesliga last term. Whilst Josh Wander and co acquired the German outfit already in a tough spot financially, things are not looking much better this campaign, with their poor start to the new term making an instant promotion unlikely.

Then, in Italy, Genoa are another side sitting in 15th in Serie A, likely happy to continue their top-flight journey after promotion last season.

Their other clubs consist of Brazilian side Vasco da Gama, who are in the relegation zone, Australian outfit Melbourne Victory, who are second in the A-League, and Belgium team Standard Liege, who too are in mid-table.

It seems Red Star are also set to earn promotion from the French third tier too, as a minor success story.
