Everton are interested in signing Niclas Fullkrug.

According to 90min, Everton are keen to strike a deal to sign Niclas Fullkrug. The striker is a long-term target for the Toffees. Fiorentina are also weighing up a move for the 30-year-old. Meanwhile, Everton also hold an interest in Wout Weghorst, who Sean Dyche enjoyed working with during his time as Burnley boss.

There is no doubt that Dyche needs to bring in a new striker this summer. The club struggled for goals last season, which nearly led to relegation. Ellis Simms’ exit has depleted Everton’s options in this part of the pitch even further.

Fullkrug would be a tricky signing for Everton to pull off this summer, given the fee he would command, but if they can get a deal done it would be a major coup for the Merseyside outfit.

Who is Niklas Fullkrug?

The German striker currently plies his trade for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. Fullkrug was in fine form last season, notching 16 league goals, which meant he shared the top goalscorer award for the division with Christopher Nkunku.

It would be fascinating to see if Fullkrug can replicate this form in the Premier League. His quality link up play would also be a benefit were he to join Dyche’s squad. Having a figure like Fullkrug up front to play off and provide for could help to bring the best out of the likes of Alex Iwobi and Dwight McNeil.

The Germany international is a powerful physical presence, and a clinical finisher. He has bagged 7 goals in just 9 appearances for his country. This is a phenomenal ratio of goals-to-games, that compares favourably with some of the finest strikers in the game. Harry Kane’s England strike rate, for instance, equates to 58 goals in 84 caps. Of course, Fullkrug’s smaller sample size of international outings must be considered, but this comparison does serve to show how well he is currently performing on the biggest stage.

He has the potential to be transformative for Everton’s attack, especially is Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s fitness issues persist.
