Everton to ramp up efforts to sign ‘lightning’ full-back, transfer rival can’t afford £20m price

Everton have just a few days left in the transfer window to bring in new additions, with fans still hoping for a new right-back.

It is a position that has been on the agenda for the Toffees for quite a while now, with Jake O’Brien having spent a lot of time out wide during the second David Moyes era.

What should be Everton’s top priority before the deadline on Monday? 😬

Just recently though, Nathan Patterson has moved out wide, with Jake O’Brien playing in the middle to cover Michael Keane’s suspension.

Patterson has done relatively well, but Everton remain linked with new right-back signings.

And one player Everton have been linked with this month is Brooke Norton-Cuffy.

There was an unwelcome development earlier this week when Juventus made a loan proposal for Norton-Cuffy – but now there is an encouraging update for Everton.

Calciomercato have provided some more information today about the Norton-Cuffy situation.

It appears there is a genuine possibility the Englishman could be on the move in the final days of the window.

And the publication claim that Everton are now poised to ramp up their efforts to sign him.

It’s claimed that Everton are currently the club with the most interest, but West Ham United are also circling.

Everton are keen on signing Brooke Norton-Cuffy… are there other positions more important than right-back this transfer window?

Genoa could sell Norton-Cuffy for around £20 million and, in a boost for Moyes, this is not a figure that Juventus can reach at the moment.

Of course, it was claimed that Juventus were only looking to sign Norton-Cuffy on loan with an option to buy.

So Everton can seemingly blow the Italian giants away if they can present a suitable permanent offer.

But given the narrative about Everton being cautious this month, a £20 million outlay might be wishful thinking.

Norton-Cuffy could reinvigorate Everton’s right side

Time is quickly running out for Everton to get their business done and the club need to spring into action now if Norton-Cuffy is indeed a player they want to sign.

It would be a positive move by the Toffees.

Norton-Cuffy has the potential to breathe new life into Everton’s right flank, which at the moment, is lacking pace and directness.

As per a feature from Breaking The Lines, Norton-Cuffy has a marauding style that could be really useful.

They said of him in 2022: “It is quite unusual to see a player’s strength and stability improve the quicker they run, but opponents who could outmuscle Norton-Cuffy in other circumstances are brushed aside when running next to him, and lightning speed gives him the edge in unfavourable battles to get his body in front of them.

“Once Norton-Cuffy gets going with the ball at his feet, he’s incredibly difficult to stop.”

Enticingly, Norton-Cuffy already has decent experience of English football having had spells with Lincoln City, Rotherham United, Millwall and Coventry City, so that is bound to help should Everton bring him in.
