Everton fans love to see an academy talent progress, although the path to the first team has been somewhat blocked in recent years.
A financially-driven hurdle, those who might have been good enough to take the next step were instead sold, with their pure profit stance in relation to PSR too good to deny.
Fortunately, they have healed in that regard, and at last a bit of respite seems to have been earned.
That could provide just enough leeway for the Toffees to promote their latest star from the U21s free from risk.
Paul Tait left stunned by Omari Benjamin vs Liverpool U21s
Speaking to Everton’s official website, Paul Tait, reviewing his side’s professional performance after winning the mini Merseyside Derby, was effusive in his praise for one man who might be set for that call-up.
After all, how couldn’t he be after Omari Benjamin’s brace fired them to a 2-0 victory?

The teenager, brought in from Arsenal in the summer, has really hit the ground running at Finch Farm, and proved his worth yet again on Saturday.
Tait, Everton’s U21s coach, would claim: ‘He will grab the headlines, the two goals are really good for him. Playing as a nine through the middle for us, his work rate again was outstanding and he got his rewards.
‘Honourable mentions are him and Zan, but for me it was a real team effort today. The units, the way they worked together, I am really proud of the players.’
Could Sean Dyche promote Omari Benjamin to Everton’s first team?
Omari Benjamin has certainly earned a first-team call-up, given how he has instantly come into the club and become the shining light of the U21s.
And, with versatility that lends itself to Sean Dyche’s system, there is even more justification for his imminent inclusion.

He has played up front, just behind the striker and even on the wing this campaign under Tait, yet his quality or work rate has seldom waned.
The fact that he is clearly so talented, yet blends that with unrelenting athleticism, suggests Goodison Park would instantly take to him.
With Jack Harrison underperforming, and Jesper Lindstrom still unfavored by the Everton manager, perhaps now is the perfect time for Dyche to call Benjamin up.
