Everton and Liverpool’s final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park has been at risk of postponement for days due to Storm Darragh.
Earlier in the week, Everton’s new stadium flooded as the weather front began to make its way to Merseyside.
And there were some major concerns that the Merseyside Derby could be postponed due to the risks it would cause the match going fans.
However, on Friday, both Everton and Liverpool released storm updates which suggested the game would be going ahead.
This has since taken a major twist as an update has emerged on Saturday morning.

Merseyside Derby postponed due to Storm Darragh
According to David Ornstein, the Merseyside Derby has now been postponed due to the vicious weather hitting Liverpool.
The weather has caused serious concerns about the safety of all involved at Goodison Park which has forced the game to be postponed until a later date.
Statements are expected to follow from both clubs as a date will have to be rescheduled to accommodate what will be the final derby at Goodison.
The Liverpool players seemed to be up for the game with Virgil van Dijk sharing a message to the Everton fans.
However, they are going to have to wait just a little longer until they face off with the weather providing too many safety concerns.
What Everton have said about the Merseyside Derby postponement
It is not the news which Evertonians will have been wanting to wake up to this morning, but, ultimately, safety has to come first with these instances.
Even Arne Slot admitted Everton could cause Liverpool problems but it is the weather which has provided the biggest issue this week.
The news has now been confirmed by the clubs, and an official statement on the decision has been provided by the club.
‘Following a Safety Advisory Group meeting at Goodison Park, attended by officials from both clubs, as well as representatives from Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council this morning, it was decided that, due to the risk to safety in the local area due to strong wind gusts, and an amber severe wind warning that remains in place until 6am on Sunday, today’s fixture should be postponed on safety grounds,” Everton said.
‘Information relating to a rearranged date for the fixture will be announced in due course.’
