Everton fans have a right to be concerned about the pathway from youth football to the senior side at the club right now.

David Moyes has shown a worrying reluctance to field young talents this season, even ignoring Adam Aznou despite Everton spending £8m to sign the 19-year-old from Bayern Munich.

Internally, Everton’s own youth products are being overlooked too, with Braiden Graham yet to be given his debut despite scoring 21 goals in 31 games in the academy this term.

Kingsford Boakye is another talented youngster at the Hill Dickinson Stadium – but Ghanaian news outlet My Joy Online now state that the youngster is set to leave amid interest from Manchester United.

Kingsford Boakye decides against signing new deal at Everton

It is said that the Ghanaian youngster has rejected a new contract at Everton, with Manchester United, RB Leipzig, Brighton, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Feyenoord and Genoa keen to snap the 21-year-old up.

My Joy Online – who add that Boakye is likened to Eden Hazard in Ghana – state that Everton are ready to promote the winger, but after he underwent a change in agency, is now looking to depart.

The Accra-born prospect is expected to make a decision on his next club in the coming weeks.

This is certainly a concerning update for Everton fans to digest.

Supporters were already urging Moyes to put more trust in youngsters instead of giving the same players seemingly unlimited chances to impress to no avail, such as Dwight McNeil.

Now, rumours of Boakye – who Paul Tait has praised – opting to leave point to a larger issue brewing at Everton, where young talents are potentially starting to realise they will get nowhere on Merseyside whilst Moyes is at the helm.

Does David Moyes need to put more trust in Everton’s academy players? 😤

Surely some of these players can do better than Beto and Dwight McNeil! 😡

The Glaswegian is known to prefer older players with Premier League experience over untested options, but the longer this dynamic continues, the more Everton fans will begin to worry about the long-term future of the club.
