The Everton academy has produced some fine players over the years, and there could now be another starlet to keep a close eye on.

Everton produced one of the finest strikers in Premier League history in Wayne Rooney 20 years ago, and whilst there have been moderate successes from the academy since, there has not been another striker as devastating as the former England captain.

However, the future does look bright at Everton when it comes to youth prospects, and young striker George Morgan has now been named in The Guardian as a wonderkid to keep an eye on.

Who is George Morgan?

The 17-year-old was born in Milton Keynes, but comes from a Welsh background, and has four under-18 caps to his name.

At 1.83m tall, he possesses a physical presence similar to that of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, whom Morgan has named as one of his idols, but the teenager also possesses devastating speed.

The Guardian have described him as “fast,” and they also highlighted comparisons with Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski.

The 35-year-old established himself as one of the best strikers of his generation at Bayern Munich over the past decade, with his combination of clinical finishing, speed and intelligent movement, whilst also providing a physical presence at the same time, proving lethal domestically and in Europe.

The next step for Morgan

After overcoming some injury issues, Morgan has impressed for the under-18 side this season, but is yet to score in four appearances.

Morgan was more clinical at lower youth levels, and once he finds his confidence in front of goal, he has the potential to develop into a deadly centre-forward.

Despite his talent, taking the next step and adding more goals to his game will be key for Morgan, and if he does so, he may have a strong chance of eventually finding a pathway to the first-team, with Everton currently struggling in attack despite creating a lot of chances.
