Everton are still in the market for a right-back this summer transfer window.
David Moyes has been keen to sign a right-back since he returned to Everton in January 2025.
The Toffees were on the verge of signing Kenny Tete last summer, but that deal collapsed at the final stages.

Moyes had to continue with Jake O’Brien in that role last season, so it’s now a top priority to bring a more attack-minded full-back through the doors at Finch Farm.
With that said, there has just been a fresh rumour about a new right-back target, and it’s quite concerning.
Everton should abandon deal to sign James Tavernier
According to TEAMtalk, Everton have approached James Tavernier’s camp over a potential deal to sign the free agent.
The 34-year-old right-back left Rangers upon the expiry of his contract earlier this month and is still yet to find a new club.
MLS outfit Charlotte FC, who are managed by Dean Smith, are reportedly in pole position to land his signature at this stage.
In truth, it’d be an extremely underwhelming signing if Tavernier were to join the Toffees, as he’s simply not good enough to start for a Premier League side with European ambitions.
Towards the end of his Rangers career, the veteran came in for some pretty heavy criticism from supporters, so if he’s not up to standard at Ibrox, he’d be out of his depth at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

These types of rumours are becoming a common theme under Moyes, who clearly places far too much importance on experience.
The Scotsman must abandon this deal and start to drive down the average age of the squad, as it’s one of the oldest in the division.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence would be a much better option, or Genk’s wing-back Zakaria El Ouahdi.
Both are believed to be on the club’s shortlist, but would take up a decent portion of the transfer budget.
