Everton have brought in substantial profit for some of their best players.
In recent years, Everton have been forced to sell many of their key assets to keep in line with PSR rules and regulations.
Now that The Friedkin Group are in post, the club is in a much better position to retain the likes of Iliman Ndiaye, Jarrad Branthwaite and James Garner, to name only a few.

That said, we’ve looked back at the five most expensive sales in the club’s history and where they are now in their post-Toffees careers.
5) Anthony Gordon – Barcelona
Everton sold Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United for around £45m in 2023, and he’s since gone on to have a great career up north.
Gordon has registered 67 goal involvements in 152 appearances for the Magpies and has established himself as an England international.
The Everton academy graduate left St James’ Park this summer, joining La Liga giants Barcelona in a £69.3m transfer.
4) John Stones – free agent
John Stones became the world’s second-most expensive defender when he left Everton for Manchester City in 2016 for a reported £47.5m.
Stones joined the Citizens in Pep Guardiola’s first season and went on to become a club legend under his stewardship.
The 32-year-old made just shy of 300 appearances for City, winning a quite staggering 20 trophies, including six Premier League titles.
Stones is now a free agent after his contract expired earlier this month, and there is talk he could return to Everton on a free transfer.

3) Amadou Onana – Aston Villa
The most recent departure on this list is Amadou Onana, who joined Aston Villa in a £50m deal during the 2024 summer transfer window.
Onana gave the club a much-needed cash injection, which helped them avoid a further PSR punishment having already been docked points earlier that year.
The Belgian midfielder has enjoyed a productive two seasons at the Villans and was crowned a Europa League winner last term.
Although the 24-year-old started on the bench in the final.
2) Richarlison – Tottenham Hotspur
Coming in as Everton’s second-most expensive sale is Richarlison.
Tottenham Hotspur paid Everton £60m for the Brazilian’s signature four years ago, and it’s probably not quite worked as they would’ve hoped.
Richarlison has netted 32 goals in 133 appearances and is being linked with a move away from North London this summer.
The 29-year-old is reportedly a target for Italian giants Juventus.

1) Romelu Lukaku – Napoli
Everton’s most expensive departure of all time remains Romelu Lukaku, who was sold to Manchester United in a £75m deal nine years ago.
Lukaku never really fulfilled his potential at Old Trafford and was sold on a permanent deal to Inter Milan two years later.
The towering centre-forward earned a £97.5m move back to the Premier League with Chelsea in 2021, but that transfer failed miserably.
The 33-year-old now plies his trade for Napoli and is being linked with a move to the MLS this summer.
