Everton have not had much to enjoy this month by the way of transfers, given it has been so silent on that front throughout January.
A slew of financial issues have left the Toffees, among many other Premier League clubs, seemingly petrified of spending as they still await the outcome of an earlier appeal.
Having been deducted ten points in November, and accused of breaching PSR again just last month, it is no surprise that Sean Dyche has been left with his hands tied more than most.
That being said, they are not completely unable to exhibit some activity in the market, with Kevin Thelwell likely working overtime to try and forge some financially viable deals before today’s 11 pm deadline.
And now, they could see some late success before the window slams shut, with one journalist offering a mysterious update that should excite fans.
What Paul Brown said about Everton’s Deadline Day
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Paul Brown has offered his thoughts on the chances of late transfer activity occurring in Merseyside.
As a reporter so often seen lambasting the club for its poor ownership amidst the controversial takeover that is ongoing, it is refreshing to see a positive take where Everton have given the fans little to smile about.

Asked of any potential incomings, the journalist replied: ‘I do think Everton will make a move this window. I think they’re really trying to bring someone in.
‘They’re under a lot of budgetary constraints, obviously. But I think they will get at least one loan deal done before the window closes. It’s been pretty clear that’s what they’ve been trying to do since the window opened and everybody knows it.
‘I think they have two or three different irons in the fire. I would expect one of them to come off. It may be all they can afford unless somebody leaves and if you see someone leave Everton and a decent fee comes in, I think that might be game on for another signing.’
Who do Everton need to sign today?
Well, given the various issues plaguing them across the pitch, there are actually several positions that need bolstering.
So, it is probably easier to outline the roles that remain competent.
Their goalkeeping situation is sorted for the foreseeable future, whilst Ben Godfrey remains a fine backup for Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski.
With Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young returning to fitness, they have helped bolster the full-back ranks too.
However, that is about it.

Central midfield has been particularly ravaged of late, with Tuesday’s trip to Fulham having seen James Garner start as the sole central midfielder.
Abdoulaye Doucoure’s persisting ailments are proving troublesome too, as his absence has blunted their attack.
Also, an injury to either Dwight McNeil or Jack Harrison would see Dyche’s system collapse.
Lots to improve and little time or money to do it.
