The Premier League are set to announce their verdict on Everton’s second PSR charge after last week’s hearing.
In an unprecedented season, the Toffees and Nottingham Forest have been sanctioned due to last year’s recorded losses. Everton’s second hearing occurred from Monday, April 25, to Wednesday, April 27.
It’s unclear what Everton’s punishment will entail or when it will be announced, but football finance expert Kieran Maguire has tried to shed light on when Evertonians will find out their club’s fate.
Everton could be docked points tomorrow
Talking on the Price of Football Podcast [7mins 10 seconds], Maguire suggested a verdict could be announced on Friday.
“The second hearing has taken place, and we are anticipating a verdict published, I think, possibly Friday, but probably more likely on Monday or Tuesday,” he explained.

On what he expects to happen regarding the Premier League’s punishment, he added: “With regards to the verdict of the commission, the losses are higher than anticipated. I think the expectation in terms of a points deduction are not as positive as I was feeling.”
Who has been involved in Everton’s second PSR hearing?

Laurence Rabinowitz was key in reducing Everton’s initial Premier League PSR charge to six points; however, the KC was not involved in last week’s hearing.
The Athletic suggest that the 63-year-old was involved in the “preparatory” stages before the second hearing. After Forest’s deduction, Everton will be hopeful of a less severe sanction this time around.
Ideally, one or two points will be docked, allowing Sean Dyche and the players to focus on the task at hand. The sooner uncertainty around the club’s league position is quashed, the better.
Hopefully, the 2023/24 season is the last time Evertonians will hear PSR and FFP uttered at Goodison Park.
