‘Foolish’: Chris Sutton thinks Everton would be absolutely crazy to offload £4m man

Chris Sutton has claimed that Everton would be ‘foolish’ to sack Sean Dyche now.

Speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off! Podcast, the former striker insisted that the current Everton boss is the right man for the job.

Dyche moved to Goodison Park in January of this year – nine months after he left Burnley. The 52-year-old kept the Clarets in the Premier League for five consecutive seasons and was expected to do the same for Everton.

Dyche helped Everton retain their top flight status on the final day of the campaign with a narrow win over Bournemouth, however he has come under increasing pressure after a disastrous start to the current season.

The Merseyside outfit claimed their first point against Sheffield United before the international break, but have otherwise lost four of their five opening matches and currently sit 18th in the table.

Many fans have called for Dyche’s sacking after some dreadful performances from the team, but Sutton really doesn’t think it would be a very good decision.

“What were Everton fans’ expectations at the start of the season?” Sutton said. “suspect most Everton fans knew they were going to be in another relegation battle.

“They haven’t spent big money. I think Beto was a decent signing, but they were always going to struggle. I don’t think any Everton fan was thinking they were going to get European football.

“It’s a slow builder for Everton. It would be foolish for them to think about sacking Sean Dyche. He is the right man for this environment which Everton are in.”

Everton may be forced to keep Dyche

Everton may not actually have much of a choice whether they keep Sean Dyche anyway, with recent reports claiming that it could cost them a hefty £4 million if they choose to offload him before the end of the season.

With the club’s takeover in full swing, Farhad Moshiri certainly won’t be willing to cough up more cash and so they would have to wait until 777 Partners take control.

This could mean the Toffees will have to keep hold of Dyche until potentially the end of the year.
