Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite could be like a new signing for the Blues this season.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven and excelled during his spell in the Netherlands, picking up the KNVB Cup.
Indeed, the Toffees have a number of players returning from loan deals this summer, with Andre Gomes amongst them after his season-long-spell at French outfit Lille.
The Portuguese international also had a successful time away from Goodison Park and was an integral cog in Lille’s midfield as Paulo Fonseca’s side came fifth in Ligue 1.

Everton may well have been buoyed by Gomes’ performances in France after a tough couple of years on Merseyside, and there may have been hopes that the former Barcelona star could rediscover his best form.
However, the 29-year-old was labelled as ‘sloppy’ and ‘off the pace’ by the Liverpool Echo after Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers, earning a measly score of 5/10 for his display.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Jarrad Branthwaite returns to Goodison Park on the back of a successful campaign in Eindhoven, followed by international success with England’s Young Lions, who were victorious in the U-21 European Championships.
A prodigious talent, Branthwaite’s development over the past 12 months could see him force his way into Sean Dyche’s plans, and the young defender could be like a new signing for Everton.

Speaking with the official Everton website, the defender outlined his ambitions for the season, stating: “I spoke to the manager briefly before the season finished.
For me, I know I need to come in, have a strong pre-season and secure a place for next season. I have got the experience I need to come back and get into the team.”
Indeed, the young defender could turn into a real star at Goodison Park this season.
