Dobbin reportedly had interest from several Championship clubs, but Saints have won the race to land his signature.
After being excluded from the play-off final last year due to Spygate, they will be aiming to gain promotion back to the Premier League this term.
So, it’s very possible for Dobbin to be back playing in the top flight years after leaving the Merseysiders.
