Former Everton player urges Sean Dyche to unleash secret weapon

Former Everton player Michael Ball wants to see Goodison Park become a fortress this season.

Everton got their first win of the Premier League season so far with a 3-1 triumph over Brentford last time out. Abdoulaye Doucoure, James Tarkowski, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin provided the goals as the Toffees secured a much needed three points.

Manager Sean Dyche will now be planning for the visit of Luton Town on Saturday, once the Merseyside outfit’s midweek EFL Cup third round clash with Aston Villa is out of the way.

Everton will be expecting another win when newly-promoted Luton Town turn up to Goodison Park. Back-to-back Premier League victories, if they can pull it off, would provide a massive boost to everyone at the club after a difficult start to the campaign.

The Everton fans, when Dyche’s side are playing at home, can certainly play a major role on behalf of the team. When Goodison Park is energised and noisy, it is a difficult place for opponents to come.

Everton must fire up Goodison Park

Michael Ball certainly believes that the Goodison Park atmosphere can be something of a secret weapon for Everton this season.

Writing in the Liverpool Echo, the former Everton full-back said, “Dyche and the players have got to use Goodison as an advantage…We’ve got to use the crowd and that’s by setting the team up right, forcing errors, making them nervous and having the right mentality to force them into errors. Once you do that, the Goodison crowd will be bouncing.”

“When Goodison Park is bouncing, opposition players just want to go home…Luton are enjoying these Premier League grounds, we’ve got to make it horrible for them and not a nice afternoon.”

If Everton can successfully tap into the spirit and energy of the Goodison Park crowds this season then they stand a great chance of enjoying an excellent home record. The points they would then hopefully amass on their own patch ought to steer them clear of any relegation trouble.

Luton have also had a tough start to life in the Premier League, and are yet to record a win of their own. Everton need to ensure that they don’t make life back in the top flight of English football any easier for the Hatters this weekend. They must take this opportunity to turn a good performance against Brentford into some good form that can help them build momentum.
