Former Everton striker Daniel Amokachi has thrown his weight behind Duncan Ferguson’s bid to be Everton’s new manager.

Ferguson reportedly thinks he’s capable of taking on the top job after working under Carlo Ancelotti.

A host of names have been linked with the Toffees hotseat and an appointment will not be rushed.

But Amokachi feels the perfect candidate is already within the club, in the shape of Ferguson.

Ferguson certainly has passion and feels the same for the club as the fans do.

But he has never been a permanent manager anywhere at any time.

When there are experienced candidates in the frame, it would be a gamble to go for Ferguson.

But he would likely be afforded time with the fanbase, for whom he is a legend.

He got Goodison Park rocking during his interim spell and with supporters coming back to grounds next season, perhaps he could do again.
