Everton may have won yesterday, but surprisingly, it is not their triumph which is dominating the media.
Instead, it’s an interview recently released by former striker and director Graeme Sharp, seeking to finally give his opinions on his treatment at the club.
Those two job roles were received very differently by this fanbase, who revered the former, but eventually came to detest the latter.
At last, his silence on his 2023 resignation has been broken.
Graeme Sharp turns down Sean Dyche’s offer
Speaking to The Scotsman, just after Graeme Sharp revealed if he would ever return to Goodison Park, the 64-year-old then made a startling revelation.
After all, his return to Everton would have to hinge on the green light from a few key figures, not least the fanbase.

However, it seems Everton manager Sean Dyche was keen to have him back anyway, as Sharp revealed: ‘To be fair, Sean Dyche, the manager, has been great. He has asked me on numerous occasions to go up to the training ground, all credit to him for that. You know what? I lost interest a bit. Whether that comes back, it remains to be seen. I doubt it.
‘There might be one day when I wake up, and go, you know what, I am going to do it. But I can’t see me (doing that). I appreciate everyone trying to get me there. I just think too much has gone on. It’s not the same.’
Graeme Sharp burns final bridge with Everton fans
Although this is a sensitive subject for some, this interview will have done Sharp no favours.
After all, there are many Evertonians who, in hindsight, regret how the legendary Scotsman was treated during his tenure on the board of directors.

It’s never nice to see an icon hounded out of the club, but the supporters’ frustrations were well-founded. He just so happened to be a part of an ownership model that had made too many mistakes for this fanbase to bear.
However, by standing with them and refusing to back the fans, he burned so many bridges.
And now, with this interview, he has burned even more.
Sharp has every reason to feel aggrieved, but there was surely a way back for him. It’s a wonder whether there will be now after he has taken another swing at how supporters treated him.
