Everton are exploring a number of deals with the transfer window now officially open.

The Toffees are eyeing a move for Nick Woltemade, who enjoyed a prolific season in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart.

Woltemade appears to be the alternate target to Liam Delap, with the Ipswich Town forward close to joining Chelsea.

David Moyes has also been looking at Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer, though, Leeds United seem to be leading the race.

A fresh rumour has just come to light over the weekend, and Everton supporters are really excited about it.

Everton fans so excited after hearing David Moyes wants to sign John Stones

It’s being reported that Everton are ready to contact Manchester City over a deal for John Stones, with the England international keen to play regular football ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Toffees fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to react to the latest transfer link.

“Won’t happen, but the thought of Stones rcb and Branthwaite lcb is sensational,” @adamjames1878 said.

@musicmashupsai explained: “He’s still world class. We could do with leaders and quality players. Rather him over Keane and Tarks, plus it looks like JB might want out. No brainer this. Replaces Young in leadership group too and Coleman if he retires.”

“Need to make this happen at all costs,” @1878Liammac added.

“The perfect replacement if Keane leaves,” @ToffeeRed commented.

@RC021878 posted: “Vamossssssss covers right back, centre back and midfield. Literally world class on his day, hope this is true man.”

@ToffeeTactic explained: “People are looking at this wrong. Don’t look at it as us signing John Stones the centre back, think of it as signing John Stones the defensive midfielder. Stones next to Gana??? Oooooof.”

Stones could play in midfield for Everton

As one fan alluded to, Stones could join Everton to play as a defensive midfielder.

The 31-year-old has excelled in that position with the Citizens, most notably in the Champions League final win against Inter Milan two years ago.

Speaking last September, Stones admitted it’s a role he really enjoys playing in.

“It’s happened a lot over the past two years,” the Man City star told BBC Sport.

“It was a bit different in the Champions League final. I was a bit higher up and it was a new challenge for me, one that I enjoyed. Whoever plays in midfield has played there before and knows what is asked of them by the manager.

“I love it. It’s a totally different look on the game and appreciation for the game. Understanding the game, learning from a defender’s point of view when to receive the ball and when to pass the ball. I always enjoy it and try to improve every time I go in there and give my best.”
