Raheem Sterling turned down a move to Everton during the winter transfer window at the start of 2026.
It was Alex Crook who claimed that Everton spoke to Sterling after his release from Chelsea, and while the England international admires David Moyes greatly, he was keen to play regularly after a period on the sidelines at Stamford Bridge – ultimately opting to join Robin van Persie at Feyenoord.
The Telegraph have now reiterated that Everton tried to sign the former Manchester City attacker in February – as did West Ham – while offering a hint over whether he would change his mind should the Toffees make another move this summer.

Raheem Sterling to Everton seems unlikely as 31-year-old enjoying time outside of England
The Telegraph say Sterling is unlikely to stay at Feyenoord, although having spent time living in Rotterdam – his first experience of football outside of England – the QPR academy graduate could look to stay abroad.
It is said that ‘the appeal of living on the Continent is huge’ for the 31-year-old, and Italian clubs are expected to make moves as a result of this.
Having already rejected Everton once whilst living in England, it therefore feels unlikely that he will reconsider moving to Merseyside after getting a taste of life overseas.
It remains to be seen if Everton are still interested, anyway.
Sterling has struggled to rediscover his old form in the Netherlands, with just one assist to show for his efforts across seven appearances for Feyenoord.
The man born in Kingston is an experienced footballer – the type Moyes loves to have in his squad – with 396 Premier League appearances under his belt and 606 career games in total at club level, so it cannot be ruled out entirely.

There's going to be some different opinions on this! 🫣
However, with Italian clubs sniffing around Sterling while he enjoys his time outside of England, a move to Everton does seem unlikely.
