Sky Sports pundit Sue Smith cannot believe what one of Everton’s players did today against Bournemouth.

The Toffees’ wait for a Premier League win goes on after Andoni Iraola’s side secured a late 2-1 victory to heap further pressure on Sean Dyche.

Beto thought he’d salvaged a late point with his 87th-minute goal cancelling out Dominic Solanke’s opener. However, further drama ensued as Seamus Coleman put through his own net to hand the hosts a last-gasp victory.

It was a moment to forget for the ever-dependable right back, and Smith was left in disbelief on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday.

What did Sue Smith say about Seamus Coleman’s own goal

Covering the game live on Sky [16:52], the former England women’s international said: “It’s a horror show; it’s Seamus Coleman. Neto made a mistake for Beto’s goal, there was nothing from it.

“The delivery comes in and Coleman tried to chest it back to the goalkeeper, Pickford’s nowhere near it, it’s an own goal. You’ve got to feel for Seamus Coleman.”

It was a moment to forget for the 35-year-old, who has impressed in recent weeks.

Yet more misery for Sean Dyche and Everton

It feels like there are almost the same discussions week after week. Once again, the Blues were largely ineffective in attack, with the hosts registering a high xG and more shots on target.

Per FotMob, Everton registered an xG or 1.12 and had seven shots, with three coming on target. Iraola’s side managed 0.4 more in terms of xG, four more shots on goal and one more on target.

Fortunately, Nottingham Forest’s draw with Crystal Palace and Luton’s loss to Tottenham has taken the edge off slightly. However, Everton cannot rely on other results to maintain their Premier League status.

Off-the-field issues haven’t helped this season; that’s clear for all to see, yet Dyche and the players are now rightfully coming under the spotlight.

Questions of the former Burnley boss have to be asked after this latest defeat.
