How David Moyes could now have a big say in potential Everton transfer

Everton, throughout David Moyes’ tenure, were considerably hamstrung in the market.

Without any financial might to back them at all really, the Scotsman worked brilliantly within his means to progress the club as far as he could before departing for Manchester United.

Having bounced around following that, enduring spells with Sunderland and Real Sociedad, he has now settled at another Premier League club, where he is thriving with West Ham United.

With an ownership that has deep enough pockets to finally fund the veteran tactician, his Hammers side are thriving, having made significant steps forward in the recent years under his leadership.

And now, ironically enough, he could do his former employers a huge favour with one move this January…

Who could Everton sign this January?

With Everton struggling financially, any movement they might make this window must be facilitated by one of two things: either a big sale or a cheap deal.

With Luis Henrique, the latter is certainly the case, as Sean Dyche is chasing a loan move for the Real Betis attacker who perfectly aligns with the 52-year-old manager.

However, this latest report details a key struggle they might face, with the selling club reportedly awaiting a £15m bid to sanction his sale.

The Merseyside club can obviously not afford that, and prefer a loan.

Now, as noted by Spanish outlet ABC Sevilla (via Sport Witness), there could be a knock-on effect should Pablo Fornals get his move to the Green and White side.

After all, the only way that Manuel Pellegrini can facilitate such a signing is with a sale of his own, with Henrique the obvious option given this reported interest.

How good is Luis Henrique?

Although he has hardly been an offensive powerhouse in recent years, the 23-year-old Brazilian has already done enough to suggest that there’s plenty to be excited about here.

After all, his three assists in La Liga are indicative of a solid creative presence, as a figure that matches Jack Harrison’s tally in the Premier League.

Then, when compared to other wingers across Europe, Henrique truly showcases the outstanding assets that would help him thrive under Dyche.

Sitting in the top 4% for successful take-ons per 90, his creativity and progressive power are emphasised, yet he also ranks in the top 5% for tackles, the top 10% for blocks and the top 6% for both clearances and aerials won per 90, via FBref.

A hard-working winger with a penchant for tracking back, Dyche will be praying for Moyes to do him a big favour here and push Fornals out the exit door.
