Everton summer signing Adam Aznou was in action for the under-21s this evening.
Everton signed Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich for around £8m in the summer transfer window, however, he is yet to make his debut.
David Moyes is being patient with the 19-year-old defender as he adjusts to a completely new country and league.
Moyes and his coaches decided to put Aznou in with the under-21s this evening as they took on League One outfit Bradford City in the EFL Trophy.
Here’s what Everton supporters made of his performance.

Everton fans react to Adam Aznou’s display vs Bradford City
Aznou played the full 90 minutes as Everton’s under-21s suffered a thumping 5-1 defeat to Bradford City at Valley Parade.
It’s fair to say, Toffees supporters weren’t best pleased with his performance.
“I ain’t seeing much from Aznou to think he’s even near being ready to play Premier League football…I expect him to be on loan in Jan,” @lukeWilko1878 posted.
@EFCHistVer2 added: “Aznou just gifted Bradford their 2nd goal! That’s why he’s playing for the reserves.”
“Anyone wondering why Aznou and Patterson aren’t starting PL games, wonder no more. They’re both playing for the U21s, who are currently 4-0 down before HT,” @toffee_hammer commented.
@PapaSmurf1878 explained: “That Aznou signing is another that made no sense at all. Needed a fullback badly, signed a lad who is nowhere near ready. The deal got praised massively as usual, meanwhile, we play a CB and CM in those positions.”
David Moyes has always said Adam Aznou isn’t ready
Aznou’s shaky performance against Bradford won’t really come as a surprise to Moyes, as he knew even at the time of signing him that it’d take time for him to get up to speed with the English game.
“This boy’s a young boy, maybe not quite ready yet,” the Everton manager said back in July.
“But we hope he will be shortly and yeah we see a lot of good things in him. Technically very good. Athletic. Might need just a little bit to get himself built up and ready for the Premier League.
“So we won’t be putting him under any pressure and we won’t be giving any guarantees to the supporters that he’s going to be seen right away.
“We’ll wait and observe him ourselves but we’ve heard lots of good things about him and we’ve seen what we’ve seen we like, so let’s hope it works out.”
It’s a little bump in the road for Aznou tonight, but it’ll certainly be a really valuable lesson in his development.
