Everton have a lot to do this summer, and a lot of fans are hoping to see the club make some headway early doors.
The Toffees finished the 2025/26 season in dreadful fashion, failing to win any of their last seven games in the Premier League.

This is now a hugely important summer for Everton.
Clubs like Bournemouth, Sunderland and Brighton are all showing a lot of ambition at the moment, and they’ll all want to push on after getting into Europe.
It’s important that Everton don’t get left behind.
So a fast start could be important – but what does history tell us about Everton signing players in June?
Everton rarely sign players in June
Fans hoping to see one or two early arrivals at Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer may well have to curb their enthusiasm.
Because Everton have tended not to do very many deals in the month of June.
Across the last 10 years, the club have only signed three players, being Jordan Pickford from Sunderland in 2017 (June 15), Niels Nkounkou in 2023 (June 1, option to buy triggered) and Charly Alcaraz in 2025 (June 1, option to buy triggered).
There were also a couple of pre-contract deals for James Tarkowski and Tom Cleverley, but these were finalised on July 1.
Since the Premier League’s inception in 1992, Everton have only ever completed nine deals in the month of June. They are as follows:

- Niels Nkounkou – 15 June 2023
- Gerard Deulofeu – 27 June 2015
- Marouane Fellaini – 1 June 2012

- Kevin Campbell – 25 June 1999
- John Collins – 22 June 1998
So nine signings made in June since 1992 suggests Everton could well be in for another slow month this time round.
World Cup could reduce Everton’s chances of June signings
So Everton typically don’t really get players through the door this month anyway, but there’s also the World Cup to factor in this year.
The tournament kicks off on June 11, so it is going to be tricky for a lot of clubs to get signings through the door this month if targets are involved at the tournament.

Realistically, their focus is going to be on making an impact for their country out in North America, and not necessarily sorting out their future at club level.
But we’ll see if Everton can buck their trend when the window officially opens on the June 15 – it’s obviously very possible the club will have targets who aren’t at the World Cup.
