Everton will have several first-teamers at the World Cup in America this summer.

One of those will be Everton full-back Nathan Patterson, who has been called up to Scotland’s final 26-man squad.

Patterson is a fringe player in David Moyes’ side, but he’s expected to play an important role for his country.

If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰

Scotland’s media give verdict on Nathan Patterson’s display vs Curacao

Patterson didn’t start in the 4-1 win against Curacao, but he did play 45 minutes as he replaced Aaron Hickey at half-time.

Here’s what The Scotsman had to say about his performance.

6/10 – “Pressed forward from right-back as Scotland took advantage of the extra man. Will be glad of the minutes.”

Edinburgh News added.

5/10 – “Hickey’s like-for-like replacement. Low cross found Dykes, which led to a late opportunity. Broke forward well when presented with an opportunity.”

The Herald Scotland said.

4/10 – “The Everton man was given 45 minutes to show his stuff, following a decent performance by Hickey, the player he replaced.”

It’ll be interesting to see how Patterson gets on at the World Cup, as there is an expectation that he will leave Everton this summer.

Perhaps if he performs well, Moyes may change his mind and integrate him into the team next season.

It’s easy to forget he’s still so young and has lots of room to develop into a Premier League standard right-back.
