Former Everton striker Kevin Campbell has now said that summer signing Ashley Young will be a key player for the Toffees this season.
Indeed, Campbell states that the 38-year-old will be ‘an asset’ to Sean Dyche’s side ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.
Young was Everton’s first signing of the summer, arriving as a free agent following the end of his contract with Aston Villa.

Speaking via the Everton Real Talk Podcast on his YouTube channel, Campbell reiterated how Young’s experience and versatility could benefit the Blues this year.
Campbell said: “I can tell you this, Ashley Young will be an asset to Everton Football Club.”
The ex-Everton striker continued: “He can play in multiple positions, as well as each other – wherever he plays, he’s a seven out of 10.”

Everton could utilise versatile Ashley Young, but still need reinforcements
Indeed, Young’s versatility will no doubt be an enormous boost to Sean Dyche this season, will fresh personnel required in positions across the pitch.
Dyche has previously stated his desire to bring in a new left-back, perhaps indicating that Young will overtake Ukrainian international Vitalii Mykolenko in the starting XI.
However, Young’s debut for the Toffees in a pre-season friendly at Wigan Athletic saw the ex-England international play a far more advanced role in attack.

Indeed, Young scored the winning goal at the DW Stadium in a 1-0 win for the Toffees, firing the ball into the roof of the net with the kind of precision that was lacking at Everton throughout last season.
He may only be contracted at Goodison Park for one season, but Ashley Young could indeed be a very shrewd signing by Sean Dyche.
His experience, versatility and winning mentality could ensure that the 38-year-old star is indeed ‘an asset’ to Everton this season.
