Sean Dyche has confirmed that Jack Harrison won’t be fit to play against Brentford this weekend.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Everton boss revealed that his summer signing is ‘not ready to go yet’.

Everton launched their pursuit of Harrison this summer after he netted five goals and provided seven assists in the Premier League last season.

The winger dropped down to the Championship when Leeds United were relegated but made his intention to play in the top flight very clear.

After fighting off competition from Aston Villa, the Toffees confirmed the arrival of Harrison on loan last month.

However, the 26-year-old is yet to recover from a hip injury and is still waiting to make his debut for his new club.

Harrison had been spotted in training last week and there was hope that he could travel to Brentford this weekend, but Dyche has now confirmed that he won’t be available to feature against the Bees.

When asked about Harrison, Dyche said: “No, he’s just back on the grass. He’s had quite a long term situation.

“It’s going very well I must say – he’s very clear minded and his fitness looks good.

“But no, he’s not ready to go yet.”

Everton expected Jack Harrison to be available by now

Previous reports claimed that Everton had originally expected Harrison to be sidelined for 3-4 weeks, which would have set him up for his debut earlier this month.

However, they discovered shortly after signing him that he wouldn’t be available to play until late September/early October.

Harrison’s return to training last week suggests that fans could still see him before the month ends, though he may be limited to cameo appearances while he gets his fitness back.

It is certainly not the start to his time at Goodison Park that everyone wanted to see and fans will hope his injury doesn’t have an impact on his performances once he makes his comeback.
