Kevin Campbell has now said that he really likes Everton player James Garner and the 22-year-old could have a big season this year.

Garner arrived at Goodison Park last summer in a £15m deal with Manchester United, though missed a lot of the season through injury.

However, upon his return to fitness, Garner brought composure and a keen eye for a pass to Sean Dyche’s side, as well as a willing versatility.

Indeed, Campbell stated ‘I really rate him’ when discussing the 22-year-old, and insists that Garner could be a creative out for the Toffees this season.

Speaking about Garner on the Everton Real Talk Podcast on his YouTube channel, Campbell stated: “I really rate him. I watched him quite a bit at Nottingham Forest. He done really well and made a real difference to them.

I’m hoping that he can get in that (attacking) position and create (for Everton).”

Everton youngster James Garner impressed more than just Kevin Campbell

Everton lacked both goals and creativity throughout last season and no doubt need to address both prevailing issues this summer.

However, one answer to Everton’s creativity issue could already be at the club, with James Garner contributing with both goals and assists during his loan spell at Nottingham Forest during the 2021/22 season.

Helping Steve Cooper’s side gain promotion to the Premier League, Garner contributed four goals and eight assists in the Championship, recording 10 assists in all competitions in what was a stellar campaign for the young man.

Indeed, despite an injury-laden season in his debut campaign at Goodison Park, Garner was included in the England U-21’s European Championships squad this summer, returning victorious as he played an integral part in the Young Lions’ triumph.

The 22-year-old has shown throughout his fledgling career what an asset he can be, and hopefully Kevin Campbell is correct in his assertion that James Garner could be a key player for Everton this year.
