Everton manager David Moyes is out of contract in 12 months time.
It’s very unusual for a manager to go into a new season in the final year of their deal, but that’s the case for David Moyes.
After a dreadful end to last season, with Everton falling out of the chase for Europe, it seems the Friedkin Group are unsure whether to extend Moyes’ contract.
Moyes outers… is there anything he can do to change your mind? 🤔
The American investors have enormous ambition and are likely to see how he fares next term before making a decision on his future.
With that said, I think Moyes will depart in 2027 if he doesn’t achieve this objective.

I think Moyes will leave Everton if he doesn’t get into Europe
After shelling out in excess of £100m last summer, it’s pretty clear that Everton’s owners will want to get back into Europe as quickly as possible.
They’ve already spent another £40m on the additions of Tyrique George and Hayden Hackney this window, and a lot more incomings are expected.
Atalanta’s £21m-rated full-back Raoul Bellanova is emerging as a target for the Toffees, and a new centre-forward will likely cost double that.
So, I do think Moyes will need to qualify for Europe next season to even be considered for a new contract.
Anything less than a top seven or eight finish would likely see the 63-year-old depart, who has recently been linked with the Scotland job after Steve Clarke’s exit.
The Friedkins do have a history of making bold changes.
Speaking exclusively to Everton News in December 2024, Italian journalist Andrea Di Carlo explained that the Everton owners changed too much at Roma.
“From the marketing department to the media department, the management structure in Rome has changed too many times, in the summer there was a real revolution, even the former CEO Lina Souloukou paid the price.
“In short, there is a risk of having little stability in the men in charge.”
Evidently, the Friedkins have high standards and will make changes if they feel somebody isn’t delivering on what they want.
How would you rate The Friedkin Group’s first year at Everton? 👏
Kieran McKenna, who left Ipswich Town last month, will be free to speak to clubs this time next year, so it wouldn’t at all be surprising if he’s already being considered.
Indeed, all we want is Everton Football club to be as successful as possible, so let’s hope that Moyes delivers in 2026/27.
