Ian Woan says £15m Everton player has been simply ‘incredible’ this season

Everton for all the problems right now, are blessed with a handful of talented players who are thriving at Goodison Park.

This season has seen some extreme ups and downs for Everton on the field and worse still off it.

A 10-point deduction has been catastrophic for Sean Dyche‘s season with his Toffees side sitting in the relegation zone.

Quite painfully, without that deduction, Everton would be comfortable sitting in 10th just two points behind Chelsea. But as the points deduction appeal goes on there is hope the punishment will be lessened at least.

So it’s been quite an impressive season for Everton and in particular, one star has been very impressive, according to assistant manager Ian Woan.

Speaking with The Athletic, Woan touched upon how impressed he’s been by James Garner this season as the midfielder improves weekly.

“Jimmy Garner has been incredible because we have used him in every position possible.

“He just gets the job done and has got a narky edge that I love. He’s matured into a really good Premier League footballer.”

Garner’s performances for Everton this season have been really encouraging and with these, he’s making that £15m fee look a bargain as Manchester United undoubtedly regret letting him go.

His impressive Premier League season can be seen clearly with his average match rating – via SofaScore of 7.2 which is a tremendous score considering some of the bad results the Toffees have endured.

He wasn’t the only player Woan was praising though as the assistant coach also named two others who have a bright future.

Jarrad Branthwaite and Vitaliy Mykolenko also praised

Along with Garner, there were two others that Woan saw it fit to laud for their contributions this season as he admitted his excitement.

One name was Jarrad Branthwaite who he admitted had it pretty good with his defensive partnerships, while Vitaliy Mykolenko also got praised.

“But the future looks really bright. You can see Jarrad (Branthwaite) maturing. He’s playing alongside Tarky and has got England’s No 1 behind him. That’s a nice little triangle to be in. Myko (Vitaliy Mykolenko) has been a revelation this year.”

The three players that Woan tipped as making Everton’s future bright are all wonderful and absolutely deserve that status.
