Chris Sutton has now predicted that Everton will avoid relegation this Sunday, as the fight for survival goes to the final game of the season.

Backing Everton to avoid the drop at the expense of Leicester City and Leeds United, the pundit has taken to social media to make his prediction.

Responding to a tweet from the official BBC Sport account, the 50-year-old pundit admitted that he believes Everton will stay up.

He tweeted: “On the balance of probability…Everton I’d say…”

A win for the Toffees over Bournemouth on Sunday maintains the club’s top-flight status regardless of the outcome of other fixtures.

Everton are two points clear of both Leicester City and Leeds United, who are at home to West Ham and Spurs respectively on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues host a Bournemouth side will little to play for and the atmosphere inside Goodison Park is sure to be electric.

Everton fans will be relieved if Sutton prediction is correct!

However, Sean Dyche will likely be without forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is struggling to recover from a hamstring injury sustained during the 1-1 draw at Wolves last week.

DCL’s absence does leave Everton short upfront, but the club’s survival remains in its own hands, a situation that seemed unlikely just a few weeks ago.

It will no doubt be an anxious week for Everton fans as the count down to the final game of the season gathers pace, with the Blues in a similar situation to last season.

Indeed, Everton avoided the drop on the penultimate game of the 2021/22 campaign, recovering from a two-goal deficit to beat Crystal Palace 3-2.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the hero of the day on that occasion, scoring a late winner, but the Blues will now be looking to the rest of the squad for someone to step up to the plate.
