‘Improved a lot’: Everton ace says he's got so much better this season

Tom Davies has told Everton’s official website he feels he’s improved a huge amount this season.

Davies has arguably progressed more than any other player in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad this term.

The Englishman has found a role in the team and taken on board the messages from one of the most experienced managers around.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s explosion into goalscoring form has grabbed the headlines but Davies has been quietly efficient.

“It has been difficult with us not winning in the past few games but I’ve improved a lot this season,” said Davies. There are a lot of positives from it – and a lot for me to work on and improve.

“The direction the team is going and the way we’re playing, I can see myself developing into the player I want to become. I am enjoying my football, playing for the club I love and want to keep doing that and improving.

“These things aren’t too far away. It is so exciting for me to be part of a great club. The manager has helped me understand the game and develop.

“He gets the best out of me through training and games and talking to me about how I can play and improve.

Plenty has been made about Ancelotti’s ability to attract elite players – such as James Rodriguez – to Goodison Park.

But he has also been able to coach improvement out of the likes of Davies, which will save the club needing to dip into the transfer market as often in the summer.

Ancelotti revamped the Everton midfield in the summer, and the gauntlet was laid down to Davies to improve – and he’s done exactly that.
