‘It is true’… Interest is really building in £35k-a-week Everton player ahead of the summer

Everton did well to hold onto their prized assets over the January transfer window, but they might not be so fortunate this summer.

After all, despite their league position, they boast a squad littered with quality, and buoyed by an outstanding youthful core.

Sean Dyche has forged a system that truly gets the very best out of most of his playing staff, with certain stars benefitting more than most.

Abdoulaye Doucoure is one such figure who is reaping these rewards, but also the likes of James Garner, Amadou Onana and Jarrad Branthwaite are also thriving despite their shared inexperience.

However, the latter is now being touted for an exit, yet again.

What clubs are trying to sign Jarrad Branthwaite?

The interest in the English defender is not new news, but regardless it remains a frustrating sight to see in the middle of a season where safety is far from assured.

With Tottenham Hotspur also reportedly sniffing around Garner, and Barcelona having shown interest in Onana, it is a fearful and hugely possible outcome that any one of these three could be sold this summer.

Perhaps the biggest blow would be to lose Branthwaite though, given how imperious and integral he has been at the back for Everton this campaign.

Fortunately, he would likely fetch the largest fee though, with a £100m price tag reportedly slapped on the £35k-a-week titan.

Now, speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Ben Jacobs has sought to issue an update on that widespread interest: ‘I think that there is going to be a bidding war, in many ways, during the summer.

‘I think Tottenham will be there, and we know that Real Madrid have looked in the past as well.

‘It is true that bringing in at least one young centre-back is on Manchester United’s positional radar. Homegrown players are also a key focus, so Branthwaite ticks a lot of boxes, especially with him being a left-sided centre-back.’

Is Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite really that good?

Whilst the rest of the footballing world might be blissfully unaware of Branthwaite’s talents, Evertonians are remarkably well-informed.

After all, they have watched him grow from a gangly youngster brought in from Carlisle United, into a colossal defender already dominating in the Premier League.

Last season’s loan spell at PSV Eindhoven did wonders for his technical and mental development, with many well aware of the physical prowess he already boasted.

Well, these assets have now all combined to create the perfect modern-day defender, with his English status and left-footedness additional bonuses.

He is therefore recording 2.1 tackles, 4.5 clearances and six ball recoveries per game now in the league, as the dominant force alongside James Tarkowski for Dyche, via Sofascore.

His exit is certain to sting more than most, but the potential of a bidding war is a mouth-watering prospect for a club so desperate for money.
