Everton, whether it be home or away, are almost always subject to derogatory chanting used to mock dated ideals.
It is a frustration always aired by the fans, the club and many sections of the media, yet it continues relentlessly.
Homelessness is an issue that should not be used for point-scoring, let alone by fanbases that often come from cities boasting a higher poverty rate than Liverpool. It makes no sense, and trivialises a truly serious problem that England faces.
However, with Chelsea, that behaviour remains.
Jamie Carragher even took to X to call out the singing, showcasing his delight with the Toffees’ response to such a tone-deaf action.
Having first put up the logo of a local food bank, Carragher would note later in the match: ‘Feed the scousers. Delighted Everton have gone in front after the nonsense getting sung by the Chelsea fans.’
Fortunately, the Merseyside outfit came out 2-0 winners, to send the away section back down to the capital feeling blue.
How did Everton play against Chelsea?
Everton’s setup under Sean Dyche is far from complicated, but it has already proven impossibly tough to break down.
After all, Newcastle United fell foul to the system that saw their attack completely blunted, and Chelsea were no different.
Despite enjoying 72% of the ball and raining down 16 shots, Jordan Pickford was only threatened on four occasions, via Sofascore.
It was a perfect Dyche display, striking on the break and upsetting what the statisticians would have expected to happen.

Jarrad Branthwaite, James Tarkowski and Vitaliy Mykolenko excelled. James Garner was tireless despite his ailments. Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil continue to show their quality. Even when starved of the ball, it does not alter their mission.
However, that is exactly how the former Burnley boss thrives.
He lives off the chaos his plucky outfits cause, and comes into his element when underestimated. When backed by such a raucous, relentless following, the future seems so bright again at last.
