Everton have had their difficulties with PSR over the last few years.

Everton have been hit by multiple deductions and have been forced to raise cash through player sales in numerous windows.

That’s meant many of their best players have departed in recent times, with the likes of Richarlison, Anthony Gordon and Amadou Onana all leaving.

Several young players who have come through the Finch Farm academy have also been sold, as they count as pure profit.

With that said, one of those deals in particular doesn’t sit right with Jamie Carragher.

Everton selling Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa doesn’t sit right with Jamie Carragher

Speaking on the latest episode of The Overlap, Carragher explained that when Lewis Dobbin was sold to Aston Villa due to PSR issues, it really ‘didn’t feel right’.

“You used the word murky and that’s it just feels like players getting moved about and sometimes I’ve seen it in England in the last few years when PSR kicked off and I just felt like certain players were getting treated like cattle,” Carragher stated.

“People were swapping players, I’m not picking on these two clubs but the reason it comes to me I remember Aston Villa and Everton moving players and there was a player who left Everton like a young striker (Lewis Dobbin).

“He went to Villa and it was like you’re never playing for Villa. Do you understand what I mean? I always think I never move club but you know if you move club you don’t have this feeling of like oh this club wants me. I’m going to get in their team.

“Just a number on a balance sheet aren’t you?” One fan added.

“Yeah. And it just didn’t feel right,” Carragher replied.

Where is Lewis Dobbin now?

Dobbin is currently spending the season on loan from Aston Villa at Championship outfit Preston North End.

Dobbin is actually enjoying a really productive season, having netted seven goals whilst laying on five assists.

Is David Moyes doing enough at Everton to earn himself a new contract? 🫣

If not, who would you like to see replace him? 😬

Everton manager David Moyes.

The 23-year-old is North End’s top scorer, so he is starting to show his true potential after a difficult couple of loan spells at Norwich and West Bromwich Albion.

Although, it seems very unlikely that he will break into the first team at Aston Villa, so his future probably lies away from the Premier League side.
