John Textor confirms that he will be buying Everton alongside businessmen with ‘terrific resources’

Everton have endured a really tumultuous seven-year period under Farhad Moshiri’s reign, with unpredictability a concerning factor that has barely relented with each passing year.

In fact, it always feels like a fresh controversy or setback is just around the corner, with even now the Iranian continuing to be embroiled in fresh disputes despite his desperation to sell.

The sooner this proposed takeover by John Textor can move on, the better, and fortunately we have just been handed a brand-new update from the man himself.

John Textor reveals Everton takeover plans in interview

Speaking to French media, the American businessman has been relatively transparent throughout his time trying to purchase the club.

However, he has arguably never been so upfront in not only his aspirations but his progress too.

His latest update would detail exactly how far away from selling his Crystal Palace shares, before moving on to the details behind his touted Everton takeover.

He revealed: ‘The potential acquisition of Everton would be funded by new equity that I’ll invest. That contract, it’s very important to understand, that contract, as it’s being contemplated and drafted, is with myself as the buyer. Not Eagle Football Holdings in the UK. Not Eagle Football Group in France. So the buyer of Everton is John Textor, ostensibly. I’m trying to be clear.

‘And so we’re forming a new holding company called Everton Football Group and I’m the principal buyer of that group. I have invited a couple of other friends with terrific resources that will support that acquisition. It’s contemplated that I’ll be the majority shareholder of that small holding company.

‘Expect it to be highly collaborative with Olympique Lyonaisse and the other clubs of Eagle Football Group but legally very separate.’

John Textor is not afraid to let his feelings known

It’s quite refreshing to see an owner so supremely transparent, to the point where he shares information that most others in his position would have kept silent.

For Evertonians, who have been used to Farhad Moshiri‘s misguided attempts at talking to the fans, this could be a welcome change.

After all, seeing their owner appear on talkSPORT talking to Jim White got old and tired really fast, especially when results went downhill.

If John Textor can speak to the appropriate outlets, namely the club’s sources with the same level of openness, he will quickly become respected on Merseyside.

Having admitted to loving the club and its history many months ago, outlined his intentions to buy and now revealed just how close they are, it has to be admired just how willing he is to keep fans in the loop.
