Everton are preparing to face Manchester United on Saturday lunchtime as Sean Dyche seeks to end the Toffees’ winless run.

Evertonians haven’t seen a Premier League win since December 16. The 2-0 victory over Burnley was the fourth on the spin in an excellent pre-Christmas form run.

Since that moment, things have gone downhill.

The Toffees’ wastefulness in front of goal has caused plenty of issues; the 3-1 loss to West Ham United was the perfect example of all that’s wrong with Everton.

Nevertheless, Dyche has remained positive and is adamant his side can turn their fortunes around.

In his most recent press conference, he said: “We are showing the right signs, everyone knows that. But the frustration is actually taking the moment. We are getting into key areas in key moments, and the story of the season so far really is not taking chances, but, as I always reference, it is a team responsibility. 

“It’s not about one player. Obviously, generally, strikers are referenced, but it is a team responsibility – other people are getting chances as well. And we have got to keep doing that, that’s for sure.”

On a slightly more positive note, on matters away from the pitch, journalist Joe Thomas revealed what Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford did at Finch Farm yesterday.

When leaving Finch Farm on Thursday after Dyche’s press conference, Thomas told of how Pickford and Branthwaite spent time with a young Evertonian.

He wrote via his personal X account: “Some nice moments leaving Finch Farm this afternoon. A young lad in his Everton kit waiting outside the gates – said Jordan Pickford stopped for him; I then saw Jarrad Branthwaite stop and call him over before Mackenzie Hunt followed and gave him a match shirt. Lovely gesture.”

It’s refreshing to see Premier League footballers give fans the time of day. Too often, they have headphones in and are completely oblivious to those who appreciate their talents the most.

Regardless of how the club performs on and off the pitch, Everton have some brilliant personalities in their squad who are more than willing to give back to the fanbase.
