Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been enjoying another fine season, despite the struggles of the team.
Currently, Everton are two points clear of the relegation zone and have had a very difficult season – mainly due to the lack of bite up top.
Everton have really struggled in the final third, with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto failing to deliver, and Armando Broja having been injured for most of the season so far.
But Everton have at least been fairly solid defensively, and one man who has certainly played his part is Jordan Pickford.
Pickford is currently second in the race for the Golden Glove with seven clean sheets, and has regularly impressed this term. Gary Lineker and Joe Hart recently agreed that Pickford was underrated, and often doesn’t get the credit he really deserves.
Pickford gets criticised for the way he acts sometimes, but he’s adored by Everton supporters, who’ll certainly love his latest remarks.

Jordan Pickford talks up relationship with Everton fans

One wonders just where Everton might be without the top form of Pickford in recent years.
Everton have flirted with relegation for the past couple of years, but Pickford has come in clutch time and time again for the Toffees and there has been more of that this season.
Even former Liverpool striker Michael Owen placed Pickford in his Team of the Season so far, which really does say it all about how good he’s been in 2024/25.
Pickford has been speaking about being at Everton and the relationship he has with the fans, and his comments show that he just gets what it means to play for this club.
He said, as quoted by the Mirror: “I’ve been here for a long time, and I know Evertonians – what they’re like, what they’re about. There is so much history at Goodison, in terms of winning titles and other trophies.
“That’s not something we’ve been able to achieve but to be able to play in the stadium for its final year, that’ll last forever, and it means something to me.
“I’ve got a great relationship with the fans and it’s about giving them something to cheer about, which is what we want to do. The main word I’d use to describe the relationship is passion. I feel like I’m very passionate, and they’re very passionate, too.”
These comments come after Pickford was reported to be very content at Everton amid interest from clubs in Europe.
What a signing Pickford has been
There were plenty of transfer deals that were sanctioned at Everton by Farhad Moshiri that didn’t work out, but Pickford was undoubtedly one of the very best signings made on the former owner’s watch.
Eyebrows were raised when Everton made Pickford the most expensive British goalkeeper of all time for £30 million.
But almost everyone – even non-Evertonians – would agree that Pickford has justified his transfer fee, and then some.
Pickford also spoke about how he was ‘looking forward’ to moving into the new stadium and ‘playing my part’ in helping the club move up the table next season, suggesting people need not worry about him potentially leaving.
