Jordan Pickford has faced his fair share of world-class players during the course of his Everton career.

England’s number one has spent seven seasons at Goodison Park and had to stop some of Europe’s elite players putting the ball in the back of his net.

For the most part, the 29-year-old has been an excellent servant and produced vital moments when his side needs them most.

The former Sunderland man has now named the most formidable opponent he’s faced during his tenure at Everton.

Talking to Everton’s official YouTube channel, Pickford has highlighted Harry Kane as the toughest opponent he’s faced.

“It’s hard as a goalkeeper that. As a finisher, I’d say Harry Kane,” he said.

Kane completed his £104million move to Bayern Munich in 2023 and has scored 25 Bundesliga goals in an excellent campaign.

Despite Bayern’s disappointing league form, the Englishman’s reputation as one of the world’s best strikers has remained firmly intact.

Kane and Pickford will head to Germany this summer, looking to land England their first piece of silverware since 1966.

It feels like it’s now or never for Gareth Southgate’s side, with the Three Lions boasting some of the best young talent in Europe.

Pickford’s consistency has to be applauded. He’s played a significant part in Everton’s survival bids and hasn’t put a foot wrong for England.

Talking on talkSPORT, the former Everton defender Phil Jagielka believes Pickford should start when England kick off their campaign in the summer.

“Pickford in goal. He’s never let England down. Jordan’s very animated, and I am okay with it because you give as good as you get and you sort of smile and laugh it off,” he said.

“If you bring a younger centre half in who’s not used to playing in front of Jordan, it might affect the game,” he added.

“I pick Harry and Jordan because they’re both proven.”
