Jordan Pickford has now been an Everton player for nine years and he still thinks there’s something people still don’t understand about the club.

The England number one has played a huge role on Merseyside in keeping Everton afloat over recent years.

Pickford has maintained his spot in the England side for years despite not playing at the top end of the Premier League table.

As a result of not competing at the top of the table, the 32-year-old claims people just do not realise how big of a club Everton actually is.

Jordan Pickford says people don’t understand how big Everton really is

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has loved playing for Everton and admitted the size of the club is something that has shocked him.

How the club and the fanbase welcomed Pickford to Merseyside is something that he will never take for granted.

“Yeah, I think we’ve just got that bond, really. You know what it’s like here. The gaffer calls it the People’s Club, and it’s been renamed that,” Pickford said on The Wayne Rooney Show.

“The staff’s brilliant. Where we live and going to the games, I think we just love it. My family love it. They’ve brought into me family. They do everything they do around the place. And we know as Everton we should be in the European spot, but we know how hard it’s been over the last few years, and the roller coaster we’ve been on.”

“I don’t think people realise how such a big club Everton is.”

Pickford has shown a great deal of loyalty to Everton despite some of the struggles the club has gone through over recent years.

After all, this is a player who has been playing at the very top level for his country despite often battling the relegation battle.

However, what Everton stands for as a club is something that has touched Pickford and the 32-year-old has remained loyal as a result of that.

With 356 appearances to his name and three years remaining on his deal, there should be many more years of Pickford between the sticks at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

There will just be fingers crossed that, when he does hang up his boots, he could have a trophy to his name unlike Seamus Coleman.
