Rafa Benitez wants to bring Everton midfielder Andre Gomes with him to Celta Vigo.
That’s according to journalist Pablo Patino, who told El Chiringuito TV that the Spaniard wants to make Gomes one of his first signings at the club.
Benitez is set to be named Celta Vigo’s new manager in the coming days in what would be his first role since he was sacked by Everton last year.

While the 63-year-old’s spell at Goodison Park was a disaster, he clearly took a liking to Gomes and is now eager for a reunion in his home country.
However, Gomes only made a handful of appearances in the Premier League under Benitez, so it is interesting to see that his former boss wants to re-sign him.
It is unclear how much Celta would offer for the 29-year-old, yet the Toffees will be aware that they won’t make anywhere near the £22 million that they paid for him in 2019.

Should Everton sell Andre Gomes?
While they will make far from any profit on Gomes, it is definitely his time to leave the club.
Everton need to offload as much deadwood as possible this summer and the former Portugal international is definitely included in that category.

Gomes will be far down the pecking under Sean Dyche after an poor loan spell in Lille that French outlet Jeunes Footeux labelled as ‘far from convincing’.
A move away from Merseyside is definitely the best option for all parties, while it will be intriguing to see if Benitez manages to get much success out of the Everton flop.
Gomes would also line up alongside another of Benitez’s former targets in Denis Suarez, who SPORT previously claimed the Spaniard had tried to sign for the Toffees.
