Former Everton forward Kevin Campbell has now sent a six-word message to his ex-strike partner Duncan Ferguson following the Scot’s return to management.

The iconic Ferguson has been confirmed as the new manager of Scottish Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Indeed, it is the 51-year-old’s second foray into full-time management following his ill-fated spell as coach at Forest Green Rovers.

Yet, after winning just one out of his 18 games in charge, Ferguson and Forest Green parted company, though the recent sacking of Billy Dodds at ICTFC has provided Dunc with an opportunity in his native Scotland.

Congratulating his former Everton teammate via his Twitter, Kevin Campbell tweeted: “All the very best Big Dunc.”

Everton fans will unanimously join Campbell in wishing Duncan Ferguson all the best

Ferguson has twice taken up a role as interim manager at Goodison Park in recent seasons, firstly following the sacking of Marco Silva back in 2019.

Indeed, Everton’s triumphant 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Goodison Park famously saw Ferguson celebrate with the club’s ball-boys.

After a spell as assistant manager to Champions League-winner Carlo Ancelotti, Ferguson took up the helm on a temporary basis once more following the dismissal of Rafael Benitez.

The former Everton man has a job on his hands with Inverness currently bottom of the Scottish Championship with just one point from their opening six games of the season.

However, Big Dunc has never walked away from a challenge, and admitted he ‘jumped at’ the chance of a return to management.

“It’s a great opportunity for myself,” said Ferguson. “When I spoke to the board I got a great feeling about it. I jumped at it really.”

No doubt ICTFC will become a second team for a number of Everton fans following Dunc’s appointment with the former centre-forward a legendary figure at Goodison Park.

Hopefully the Scot’s second stab at management goes better than his first.
