The question has been raised as to whether or not Kalvin Phillips would be willing to join Everton.
According to journalist Luke Edwards, speaking on the BBC Football Gossip Daily podcast, “Everton definitely would be [interested in signing Kalvin Phillips]. Would he want to go to Everton?…He will be off somewhere.”
Things simply haven’t worked out for Phillips since his £45 million switch to Manchester City in the summer of 2022. He has managed just 14 Premier League appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, of which just two have been starts.
The 27-year-old is way down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium and needs to find a move away as soon as possible for the good of his career. A January switch seems likely for Phillips, with Everton amongst the clubs apparently keen on securing his services.
Phillips would be a brilliant addition to Sean Dyche’s squad. Despite his lack of game time for Manchester City, the 28-cap international is still an excellent player who continues to be picked for England duty by Gareth Southgate.

A deal would work for Everton and Phillips
Phillips would certainly represent a huge upgrade on Idrissa Gueye at Goodison Park. Alongside Amadou Onana, Phillips could make the Everton midfield contingent a force to be reckoned with.
If the player is at all open to a switch to the Merseyside outfit, Dyche should push to capture him in the upcoming January transfer window. A loan deal would likely be the most feasible means of getting a deal over the line.
A move to Everton would also suit Phillips. He would surely get plenty of game time with the Toffees, which is exactly what he needs at this stage of his career. There would likely be plenty of Premier League clubs keen on signing him, but Goodison Park would be as good a destination as any, especially on a short-term loan deal. Getting minutes on the pitch must be his paramount priority.
