Everton are looking into the prospect of signing Kyle Walker from Manchester City this summer.

It appears that Walker, 35, is now on Pep Guardiola’s hit list of getting people out of Man City.

This follows Jack Grealish who is also on Everton’s radar, as the Toffees could secure a double signing from Manchester.

Walker joining Everton seems logical, and there is every chance a deal could happen this window.

However, there might be something putting the right-back off the move after a three-year grudge with a current Everton player.

Everton target Kyle Walker had grudge with Dominic Calvert-Lewin

It’s a signing that has sparked plenty of debate from Evertonians, but David Moyes likes Walker’s experience.

This is something that could be used to a tee at Everton, with not as much pressure on the defender at City.

It comes after a series of poor displays under Guardiola, which got him loaned out to AC Milan, where he even struggled there.

This could put the Everton boss off a possible signing, but the right-back might already be questioning the move.

Back in 2017, Walker was sent off in Man City’s 1-1 draw at home to Everton in August, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin didn’t leave the 35-year-old too pleased.

The pair came together under a high ball, Calvert-Lewin fell to the ground, and referee Bobby Madley showed Walker a second yellow for a supposed elbow.

Four years on from the incident, Walker spoke in a pre-match press conference in 2021 as City geared up to face Everton.

“Yes I do, my first home game, against Everton,” the former Tottenham defender said when asked if he remembered his first red card for City.

“I thought it was very harsh. I had a word with Calvert-Lewin on this England trip, to be fair.”

Despite end of grudge Walker might not play with Calvert-Lewin at Everton

The red card given to Walker in 2017 was deemed harsh, with Gary Neville claiming on the coverage of the game that it was the wrong decision.

But this doesn’t mean the right-back hasn’t been susceptible to seeing the red mist in his career.

Back to Calvert-Lewin, though, although the pair have made amends now, Walker might not experience a chance to play with the striker.

This comes after Calvert-Lewin is supposedly leaving Everton, with time running out for a contract renewal.

It might be for the best as to have a three-year grudge, is some time, and Moyes will want to avoid a confrontation.
