Former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin made his debut for Leeds United this evening.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin left Everton upon the expiry of his contract this summer, and despite approaches from clubs in Europe, he chose to join newly-promoted Leeds United.

Moyes explained that the Toffees couldn’t agree to Calvert-Lewin’s financial demands, so clearly Leeds are paying him a substantial pay packet.

The 28-year-old came on as a substitute in Leeds’ Carabao Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday this evening, and here’s how supporters reacted to his cameo.

How Leeds United fans reacted to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s debut

Calvert-Lewin came on just before the hour mark at Hillsborough, and it was a debut to forget for the former Everton forward.

He missed three big chances in open play, including one which was just five yards out, and he also blasted his spot-kick over the bar in the shootout.

Wednesday advanced to the next round, and here’s what Leeds fans had to say about their new signing’s cameo.

“Get DCL out of Leeds after one half of football,” @Jerryf007 posted.

@Jay_YoungGK1 added: “DCL showing exactly why we didn’t want him signed.”

“DCL with one of the worst Leeds debuts of all time. Sign of things to come,” @talkaboutlufcv2 commented.

@Tonza79_ said: “Laughable DCL, should have kept Bamford and that’s saying something.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s stats vs Sheffield Wednesday

Calvert-Lewin’s Sofascore statistic aren’t pretty, as he touched the ball just nine times, with three of those being shots off target.

Of his four shots, just one of them were on target and he failed to convert his spot-kick in the penalty shootout, too.

In fairness to Calvert-Lewin, he will be very rusty after missing pre-season, and he did get into good areas.

But ultimately, he was profligate and wasteful, which Everton fans know all too well.
