Everton’s search for a new striker this summer has taken them to Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap.

The Toffees will be preparing themselves for what is going to be a huge summer for the club.

David Moyes will finally visit Bramley-Moore Dock over the coming days as he seems to accept the club are safe from Premier League relegation.

Everton will be offloading a number of players who are coming to the end of their contracts at the end of the campaign.

One of them will be the long-lasting servant Dominic Calvert-Lewin who has not signed a new deal, despite Everton’s best efforts.

With that in mind, Moyes is going to need to find some new attacking options to bolster his options ahead of the new season.

And there has now been a potential boost in the race to sign Delap over the coming months.

Everton handed Liam Delap transfer boost by Manchester City

Ahead of the summer, Everton have joined the race to sign Liam Delap alongside a number of other Premier League sides.

It really is going to be a fierce battle to win the signature of the Ipswich Town striker.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are now unlikely to take up their buyback clause for the young striker.

City sold him to Ipswich for £20m and have the option to buy him back for around £40m, but are unlikely to exercise that as they also hold a sell-on clause.

However, there is one potential concern for the Toffees as Manchester United make Delap their top priority for the summer.

Everton are keen to sign a new striker over the coming months given they have experienced plenty of issues this season.

But if they are going to secure the signing of Delap, they are going to have to beat a number of top Premier League sides to his signature.

What Pep Guardiola said about Liam Delap

It really has been an impressive season from Delap who has taken no time to show his ability in the Premier League.

Considering this is his first full season in the top flight and has produced these numbers for a struggling side, it’s no surprise Delap has so many suitors.

His form has been so impressive that even his former manager Pep Guardiola has been unable to withhold any praise for the youngster.

“He’s doing really well. So many players have come up from this academy and they have settled perfectly in the Premier League,” Guardiola said earlier this year.

“When he was here, we always thought he was a typical striker for the Premier League and he’s doing really well. We are happy for him.”
