Everton are braced for Manchester United to return this summer in a bid to take Jarrad Branthwaite as he’s seen as their ideal signing.

This summer could see Everton‘s core ripped away, in a bid to bolster the club’s transfer coffers. This could see Amadou Onana sold along with Jarrad Branthwaite as both are seen as very valuable assets for the Toffees.

Key midfielder Onana has attracted interest from Barcelona, Manchester United, Arsenal and also Chelsea. This level of interest suggests that Everton could struggle to retain him come the summer.

Another player who’s going to be tricky to keep is star defender Branthwaite, although, with a £75m price tag, his sale could be welcomed. The Red Devils are his most eager suitors and now a new report has highlighted just how keen they might be.

Why is Jarrad Branthwaite United’s ideal signing?

United’s interest in the ‘outstanding‘ Branthwaite is substantial and now a report by the iPaper has explained why he’s so high on their list.

The report explains that United – led by Ineos and Omar Berrada – are taking a data-led approach to recruitment ahead of this summer.

This has led them to Branthwaite along with Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise as they also look to reduce the age profile at the club.

This sale while a blow, could actually be perfect for Everton and would without a doubt allow for substantial business to be done.

Selling Branthwaite could be the ideal move for Everton

Getting £75m would be massive for Everton with the main reason being that he cost £1m from Carlisle as a 17-year-old.

This means Everton would pocket a £74m profit which looks extremely good in their books for future PSR and FFP reviews.

With this, Sean Dyche could begin to strengthen the Everton side in his image, with that being enough for a little rebuild which the club desperately needs.

Therefore if United are coming in for Branthwaite we won’t be too mad about it at all.
