Michael Ball has been slamming the national media for their failure to hold Everton’s owners accountable throughout this process.

As the years have gone on and their financial position has worsened, Evertonians rallied to drive out the poisonous leaders who had contributed to this steep decline.

And yet, instead of supporting their plight, they were ridiculed.

‘What more do you want?’ Many asked. Just the long-term sustainable future of the club will now do at this point.

Michael Ball slams media for treatment of Evertonians

Writing for the Liverpool ECHO, Michael Ball took up a huge slice of his opinion piece to lambast the whole media for their shoddy work in publicising the club’s failures.

As such, they instead opted to smear the name of the fanbase that challenged those responsible for regressing the Toffees.

The former Everton defender did not hold back in his piece, writing: The latest set of Everton accounts are just more disappointment. More doom and gloom around the football club.

‘There is negativity from top to bottom. The fanbase are doing their best to support the club that we love and rally round the team, but it just shows the fans have been right for years about how Everton have been run.

‘It’s been glossed over how the club is in the situation it is in. We try and protect our beloved club but when you hear reports of what’s going on now – the second PSR breach could happen, the amount of money we are losing – it just goes to show the fans have been right all along

‘People from the outside and in the media on TV stations and radio shows have protected Everton. Apparently if you wanted to know what to do as an owner you would phone the Everton board? We could see right through that as a fanbase and nobody believed us.

‘It’s scary. It’s negative. It’s doom and gloom. But it’s our livelihood and the club has been run like a circus for far too long. Now we’re getting punished for it and there are plenty of people who should be getting punished who will walk away scot-free.

‘The fans are ultimately the ones who are going to have to watch this club in total decline and suffering. We’ve got to pick up the pieces and deal with what’s going to happen now.’

Everton fans knew best all along

There is an outstanding reason why the atmosphere at Goodison Park has taken such a dramatic hit in recent seasons.

Fans are unsurprisingly tired, and have instead been relentlessly punished for their unwavering support rather than lauded.

Such consistent turmoil has even forced their hand too, and instead of just supporting the club they love simply with full allocations and chanting, they have had to take to protesting.

First Farhad Moshiri was the subject of intense scrutiny, and then following their ten-point deduction their focus turned to the Premier League.

Evertonians always know best, so as the media once again lambasts them for their reaction to the PSR punishments, perhaps they might heed the warning signs exhibited by their correct assessment of their Iranian owner.
