Everton fans are currently feeling a little bit dejected.
Hopes of qualifying for European football have taken a dent after the Toffees dropped points in three consecutive games, becoming the first Premier League side to concede a result-altering goal in stoppage time three times in a row.
While that does not make good reading for Everton fans, Thierno Barry’s brace against Manchester City last time out in the 3-3 draw has actually seen David Moyes guide the Toffees to an achievement not seen since the 1989/90 season.
What changes would you make to our prediction of Moyes’ XI on Sunday? 😬
It would not surprise us to see Merlin Rohl dropped despite Monday's display 🫣
Everton are spreading the goals around better than they have for decades
EFC Statto on X (previously known as Twitter) has now revealed that Everton have three players on eight or more league goals in a single season for the first time since the 1989/90 campaign.
With Barry netting his seventh and eighth Premier League goals against Manchester City, the Frenchman joined Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Beto on eight league strikes this term.
Moyes could even go one better if he coaches two more goals out of Iliman Ndiaye in the final three games, with the Senegal international currently on six Premier League goals for the season.
In that 1989/90 season, it was Tony Cottee (13) Kevin Sheedy (9) and Norman Whiteside (9) who surpassed eight league goals.
Considering the Premier League was not created until 1992, this current campaign is therefore the first time Everton have ever had three players reach eight league goals in a single Premier League season.
Everton still want a new striker – Liam Delap is said to be a target – as fans want Barry sold while Beto will only have 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of the season.

There are some great players to choose from! 🔥
A talismanic forward would certainly be welcome at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but Moyes deserves credit for finding a way to get Dewsbury-Hall and Ndiaye frequently involved in the final third this season in the absence of a top striker.
